Coast.
A financial brand with a voice of its own.
Creative Lead. I created the current logo and visual identity, and work across social design, campaigns and creative direction.
The brief
Coast brings cryptocurrency exchange, trading, gift cards and other digital financial services into one brand. I have been involved from the beginning, with responsibility for the identity and the visual direction around it.
The design problem is one of range: giving different services a recognisable voice without making every message look the same.
Finding the identity
I created several iterations of the Coast logo, including the current mark. I built the current identity from the ground up.
The open C and its outward spark give the mark a sense of movement. Coast Blue anchors the palette, with Surf Cyan and Sun Yellow adding emphasis. Blue and white remain the starting point across the system.
A system beyond the logo
The guidelines give each typeface a job: Tomato Grotesk leads headlines, Inter handles everyday information, and Big Caslon adds an occasional editorial accent.
The stroke mark and spark extend the logo into layouts. Product icons, interface symbols and richer illustrations carry the same visual language at different levels of detail. The selected spreads show those elements alongside social and product-interface examples.
Making it work every day
As Creative Lead, I carry the identity into social content and campaigns. An exchange message, a gift-card offer and a digital purchase each need their own emphasis.
The identity section presents the current guidelines. The social and campaign archive follows the brand through earlier and ongoing work, showing how the visual direction has developed over time.
